Theme

The theme for the inaugural Fiesta Feminista is "Embracing Diversity". As we know, women (and men) are not the same. We come in all shapes and sizes, as well as identities and beliefs - all determined by different socio-cultural, economic and political factors.

This year's theme not only recognises the rich diversity of women's identities and lives, but also asserts that respect and acceptance are crucial steps to establish relationships of trust. Only then can we start talking and overcoming obstacles posed by these differences.

Fiesta Feminista's audience will reflect the range of women in Malaysia with special attention being given to mobilising the participation of younger women, women from grassroots communities, and other groups of women through whom this initiative's objectives can be brought to new places.

As a gathering of those who believe in and support feminism and activism, Fiesta Feminista also welcomes the participation of men.
